CD-ROM Operating Instructions

Picture
All Course CD-ROM's have been deigned to "Auto-Play" using your web
browser - simply insert the CD into the tray, and wait for your Course Plans to pop up.

On some computers however, certain settings (usually security) on the operating system may block the full auto-play feature of the CD's. If you discover that your CD's do not load automatically, below you will find simple instructions for "turning on" your Course CD's manually.

The Basic's
Start each Study Plan with the CD marked, “PLEASURE” first. As mentioned earlier, the CD's of the Asheford Course are designed to “Auto Play, however, you must have an Internet browser (such as Microsoft’s Internet Explorer or Firefox) in order to be able to view the content of each CD.

If You're Running Windows XP
Insert the CD into your CD tray and close. The program should start automatically.

If your CD does NOT start automatically, you may have “Auto Play” turned off. To correct this:
1. Double-click on the "MY COMPUTER" icon on your desktop.
2. Then double-click on the DRIVE (usually D,E or F) that contains your Asheford CD.
3. From the list of files that appear, scroll all the way down the page, until you reach the bottom, where you will find a file named INDEX or INDEX.HTML. Double-click on this file, and your CD will open in your web browser.

If You're Running Vista or Windows 7
Insert the CD into your CD tray and close.

1. After a moment, a small pop-up window will appear asking what you'd like to do.
2. Select: “run winopen.exe” from the pop-up window.
3. Your CD will open in your web browser.

General Troubleshooting:
1. Make sure that the CD is properly seated onto the spindle inside the CD tray.
2. Always ensure that the CD tray is properly closed.
3. Occasionally CD Drives will "glitch," and appear not to read the CD. In most cases this can be remedied by opening and closing the CD tray again. If your CD tray does not have a "close" button, then make sure you press the CD tray firmly in when closing.
